Special Information For Veterans
Dear Friends and Family Members,
Fredonia Place is proud to be the first Chautauqua County senior care facility to facilitate Veterans’ Administration benefits for our residents. These benefits are available through the Veterans’ Administration (V.A.) to current and prospective residents of Fredonia Place through the “Wartime Veterans’ Pension,” and are referred to as the “Aid and Attendance Benefit through the Wartime Veterans’ Pension.”
All veterans and their spouses are eligible. The veteran must have served in the military during a declared wartime period such as WW II, Korea or Vietnam, but need not have fought, only served during such a time.
The benefit ranges from $1,149.00 to $2,700.00 per month and comes in the form of a check to the resident/family member, not to the community. As long as the individual is a resident, he or she will continue to receive a monthly check. Even if the resident lived in another state and moved to a New York community, he or she can contact the New York representative to establish benefits. The formula calculates the benefit based upon monthly cash flow, minus health expenses. Because rent at Fredonia Place is considered a health expense, the resident is able to qualify for a higher benefit. All benefits awarded are retroactive to the date of the application.
